Newcastle face more bad news as the football team’s fierce midfielder Cholinton will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a thigh injury.
The 27-year-old was injury during the Magpies’ 3-0 win over Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Brazil international has make 23 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Newcastle are set to face Manchester City at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday. And Eddie Howe’s side are riddled with injuries, with Cholinton becoming the 11th player to be sidelined.
“Cholinton is an important player. He had a problem with a tendon in his thigh muscle.” Howe said.

The Magpies have link with Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke. Who were voted December’s Player of the Month.
But Howe said it was unlikely the club would make any major reinforcements in the January window.
“We didn’t close the door. But of course, as I sit here now We will not bring anyone in.” Howe added.
“But that could change as the market eases.”
“Newcastle can confirm that Cholinton has had successful surgery on a thigh injury he sustained earlier this month.” Newcastle post on x.
“The midfielder has now start his rehabilitation under the supervision of the club’s medical team. And it is expected that he will be able to return to the field again in May 2024.”
